(1613-1675), Dutch painter, artist and genre painter. Born April 7, 1613 in Leiden. From 1628-1631 the pupil of Rembrandt. in the early works Doe created under the influence of Rembrandt, characterized by a thin cut-off and a free and open way of writing. In his later paintings of beautiful texture becomes smooth, smear hidden, dominated by cold silver-gray tones. painter achieved fame during his lifetime, leading the Leyden school genre painter. Doe died in Leiden February 9, 1675.
